CEO of Menzgold and Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah, promised to give Ghc1 million as seed money for the establishment of an educational fund to be known as ‘Sheikh Nuhu Osmanu Sharabutu Educational Fund to support the education of brilliant but needy Muslims in Ghana but it seems the embattled CEO never kept his promise according to a new report.
Nana Appiah Mensah made the promise in June this year, when the Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, Accompanied by some members of the leadership of Muslims in Ghana including Chief Abdul Kaadir Taahiru – the leader of the Council of Muslim Chiefs visited the business mogul to express gratitude over Mr Mensah’s philanthropic gesture towards destitute Muslims during the Ramadan.
In a press release from NAM Mission at the time, Nana Appiah Mensah recalled how he saw several of his friends who could not go far with their education because of financial problems, a reason why he believes such a fund would be important to help such brilliant but needy students.
In as much as NAM1 may have had good intentions back then, the office of the National Chief Imam has reacted saying that, his promise to give Ghc1 million has not been fulfilled yet.
The Chief Imam found it necessary to react as some customers of Menzgold have asked them to return the money gifted them, since it is believed that, it was part of Menzgold’s cash that was looted by NAM.
“Since June when the announcement was made, Nana Appiah Mensah had neither given the cash as promised nor has he exhibited any intention to materialize his promise as published by the media.” MyNewsGh.com was told.
“The Office of the National Chief Imam, therefore, seeks to inform the public so that members calling on the office to refund the monies will desist from doing so.” The statement added.
